Calendar Girls is a play based on a true story about a group of Yorkshire Women’s Institute members who create an alternative nude calendar to raise money for leukemia research after one of their husbands dies. The play, written by Tim Firth, explores themes of female friendship, empowerment, and how newfound fame challenges their lives and community. It premiered in 2009 after being adapted from the 2003 film, and a musical adaptation also exists.
