At its heart, SIX is about celebrating the talent and individuality of the women and non-binary people onstage. The Queens should therefore be played by cis women, trans women, trans people, and people who exist beyond the gender binary in any capacity, who feel on a personal level that this is their story to tell. Performers of any race can play all six roles in the show.

SIX: Teen Edition includes all songs from the original version, with reimagined lines and lyrics to minimize suggestive language and alternate line changes to reframe UK references for a US audience.

*This is a high-energy, dance-heavy show that will require stamina, dedication, and a strong commitment to rehearsals and performances. Come ready to work hard and give it your all!

Character Breakdowns
Catherine of Aragon: The Queen who lasted the longest and (in her opinion) was the strongest. As far as she is concerned, she was the only rightful Queen of England and stayed that way until the end of her life. This fiery Spanish Queen was fierce, firm, and took no BS from anyone – least of all her troublesome husband.
Sings “No Way”
Pop inspiration: Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira
Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (High D5, Low A3)

Anne Boleyn: Depicted most often as a “deceitful temptress” by historians and storytellers alike, Henry’s second wife has been the subject of the most speculation and mythologizing. Our Anne, however, playfully defies these aspersions on her character. She is a bubbly, fun-loving gal who only wanted to kiss a guy, and then suddenly the entire religiopolitical landscape of England is in turmoil and everyone’s losing their heads over it.
Sings “Don’t Lose Ur Head”
Pop inspiration: Lily Allen, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne
Mezzo-Soprano (High F5, Low B3)

Jane Seymour: The Queen who finally succeeded in producing an heir to the Tudor dynasty, and, conveniently enough, she is also the one who Henry claimed was the only wife he ‘truly loved’. But although Jane might at first seem like a bit of a pushover – lovably earnest, always a beat behind the rest, and with a real zeal for bad jokes – she’s steadfast, loving, and deep down as fierce as any other Queen.
Sings “Heart of Stone”
Pop inspiration: Adele, Sia, Demi Lovato, Celine Dion
Mezzo-Soprano (High F5, Low A3)

Anna of Cleves: Exuberant, eccentric, and effortlessly cool, Anna of Cleves is the Queen who secretly won history. At age 24, she found herself cast aside by the aging King and was forced to spend the rest of her life living in an enormous palace, without a single man around to tell her how to spend her wealth. She could not be happier that she came out of her short-lived relationship with Henry so successfully.
Sings “Get Down”
Pop inspiration: Rihanna, Cardi B, Charli XCX, Lizzo
Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (High D5, Low A3)

Katherine Howard: The youngest Queen, and perhaps the one with the most tragic story. Baby-faced but sharp-tongued, she knows how to get ahead. She’s funny, charismatic, and enchanting. But beneath the surface of her ‘flirtatious’ exterior lies a complex young woman.
Sings “All You Wanna Do”
Pop inspiration: Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus
Mezzo-Soprano/Soprano (High F5, Low B3)

Catherine Parr: Probably history’s most overlooked and undersold Tudor Queen. But a life of hardship and heartbreak shaped her into a truly remarkable person. A prolific author and protofeminist, she championed female independence. She is smart, soulful, and warm – with a story that goes far beyond her status as simply ‘the survivor’.
Sings “I Don’t Need Your Love”
Pop inspiration: Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande
Alto/Mezzo-Soprano (High D5, Low A3)
